Apple & Sage Stuffing

Servings: about 8

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups bread cubes (½ inch cubes, dried out)

  • 4 Tbsp butter

  • 1 ½ cups chopped onion

  • ½ cup chopped celery

  • ¼ cup chopped green onions

  • ¼ cup chopped parsley

  • 2 Ambrosia Gold® apples, cored, peeled and diced

  • ½ cup toasted pecans (optional)

  • ½ pound browned and crumbled sausage

  • 2 Tbsp minced fresh sage

  • ¼ cup apple juice

  • ¼ cup chicken stock

  • ¾ tsp salt and ground black pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Heat butter in pan and sauté onions for 5 minutes over medium heat.

  2. Add green onions and celery and sauté for 3 minutes.

  3. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and toss lightly.

  4. Place in a buttered 2 quart baking dish.

  5. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes.

  6. Uncover and continue baking for another 15 minutes, or until brown and crispy on top.
